Wu Tang vs. The Beatles

Came across this a couple of days ago thanks to http://hiphopdx.com/ . It's perfect, absolutely flawless. The Grey Album with Jay-Z and Dangermouse was good but some of those tracks just didn't work for me. Every song here works. Some of the samples he uses are from Beatles covers which I think really helps create a unique sound all it's own. It's like a re-incarnation of both Wu and The Beatles. This guy Tom Caruana outdid himself (plus you can download it for free).

Do yourself a favor, listen. I wouldn't steer you wrong, and with these two how could you go wrong anyway?

Top 10 Air Jordans...IMO

We all love Air Jordans, that's a given. Well, I know I love them... But which do we love more? It's like picking which of your children you love more. Well the time has come to toss the crappy forgettable children to the curb and raise the better siblings to our shoulders like their names were Rudy.

Note: This list is my opinion only, take it for what you will. You don't like it, make your own list, then rip it up cause mine's the shit.

Honorable Mention: The First and the Last. Jordan's first sneaks when he was a rookie are definitely a classic but just not enough to make the list. Jordan's starting falling off a bit after he retired but the XXIII brought us back to the glory days and reminded us of what Jordans were all about.

10. XIV's

These grew on me. I remember when they first came out I wasn't feeling them and being sneaker XIV, you were following some tough company. Like a fine wine, these get better with age. They're like a song you keep skipping on an album but soon that song is one of your favorites. They're sleak and inspired by Ferrari...maybe it's that, but these just look fast to me.

9. XVI (low)

Ok. Technically these shouldn't be on this list these should I guess:
but I always liked the low tops a little better then the highs. The simplicity of the lows is what I dig. Both are sick though. The cover on the highs was crazy(I liked them without the "Jordan shroud") and the lows had a collar on the back of the shoe that could be "popped" that was equally as crazy. Jordan had a dud with shoe XV, ugly as hell, but came to his senses with these.

8. VI's
Easily the most underrated of Jordan's. At first glance you're kinda like, "ok they're sneakers big deal" then at second glance you got the beautiful sole thats capped with the air bubble, the 23 designed into the sneaker, the pulley for the laces and the window tongue. This color scheme from the Dream Team days is beautiful. Big up to the VI's.

7. V's

The V's, love em. With this pair, Jordan paid homage to his highschool days at Laney but really any color scheme with these are undeniably great. This sneaker screams swagger. It's big, it's bad, the mesh middle, the air bubble and the flame on the side are so distinctive. Plus this color sceme is also my high school colors so, bonus. Great pair.

6. IV's

I always hated when I saw somebody who had these because I wanted this pair so badly. The military blue and grey color scheme just does it for me, but again, any colors will do with these. The laces holes and that triangle piece are what make this shoe for me, you just never saw that on a basketball sneaker before. The netting in the middle and the tongue top it off. AJ classic.

5. XIII's
One of the Jordans I had orginally. Jordan just kept putting out hit after hit and these were no different. One can appreciate Jordans for the style but I think it's almost forgotten that these shoes were made to ball in(and made for the best player to ever play the game). I used these during my heyday of balling, before other kids caught up to how good I was...then I was forced to work on my game. Style and function in one, just like me...think that's why they're high on my list.

4. III'sIt's getting rather difficult to rank these right now. The III's take the #4 spot but could easily be higher on any given day. Today they're #4. Michael took off from the foul line in these bad boys and Jordans took off from the shelves at an alarming rate after these. They're the first sneaker, I think, with a true style all their own and the elephant print has now become synonymous with Jordan himself. An iconic sneaker. Jordans start here.

3. XII's

Top 3. When first trying to come up with an order I knew these would be high but didn't know where they belonged. I think #3 is perfect. The sitching on the leather(that was patterned from the Japanese rising sun flag, SICK) and the pattern on the toe area is a killer combination. Love the bottoms of these as well (every jordan sole is nasty though). I think the simplicity factor comes into play again with these. Most Jordans have a bit of extravagence to them but these switch that up. With a simple understated style, these are just straight business and straight to the point, ball.

2. VIII'sTHE CROSS-STRAPS! I orginally had these kicks at #6 and thankfully came to my senses. My love for this pair has pulled through. Pure Jordan. So out there, so dynamic. Carpet Air Jordan symbol on tongue??? I mean c'mon, that's nasty. The straps kill it, the heel of the shoe looks like a peice of modern art..these shoes themselves are a peice of art. Had a pair when I was 7 when they were first released, in love ever since.

1. XI's

Where to begin? The greatest basketball sneaker ever made I think is an approriate place to start. Style, substance, form, and function are rolled into one glorious package with the XI's. Patent leather on a sneaker? Yup. See-through soles? Yup. Multiple color schemes that made you wish you had 2 pairs of each? Mmmhmm. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this pair of sneakers. I was debating on which color to put up but figured the Space Jams hold the top spot, they're just too sexy. The black/whites are a classic. The all whites are super crispy(used those to ball in during highschool, beat them to shit). The grey's were too nice to ball in. The black/red's were just nasty and I haven't even gotten to the low tops of these. The carolina blue and red low XI's are the best variation of any Jordan bar none. Those things broke people's neck when you'd walk by. Easily the best basketball sneaker ever made, I don't know what else there is to say. That's it and that's all.
